Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEOs) enforce the majority of City of London by-laws. By-laws are local regulations passed by Council under provincial legislation such as the Municipal Act, Building Code Act and Planning Act.

Once a complaint is received and entered into the database, it is assigned to a By-law Enforcement Officer for investigation. Compliance is gained through education before leading to enforcement.

Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEOs) may need to reach out to complainants for additional details that could be crucial for our investigative or enforcement efforts. Without accurate contact information, we risk delays in enforcement and the potential closure of files without resolution.
All complaints will be dealt with in a confidential manner according to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Information will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the act.
